As I studied this morning, I began asking myself, why would the Israelites begin grumbling at Moses & even tell him they were better-off in Egypt? These were same people that were ruthlessly dealt with in Egypt. They were put through hard labour. It wasn’t a pleasant one for them. Yet, as they journeyed with Moses to the promised land, they grumbled at the face of any challenge. They even went as far as saying to Moses,
“If only we had dies by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat & ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into the desert to starve this entire assembly to death”.
I couldn’t help but shudder at the above verse. “This is serious I said to myself”
This is same people the Lord shew great & mighty wonders as they got out of Egypt. How can they even think of doubting at this point?
Now, are we (today’s Christians) any different from them? What do we do in the face of challenges?
From my judgment, we are exactly like them if not worse. It is easy to sing praises to the Lord when everything is in good shape; when a little storm comes our way, we get angry with Him & begin to ask Him why us?
I want you to understand that irrespective of how difficult a situation may seem, the Lord is watching & very much able to deliver you & change your situation for good.
Based on personal experiences, as humans, we have the nature of frailty.
Personally, when the going gets tough, what I do is look back at hurdles God gave me strength to jump past, then I tell myself that if God did that, then what I am seeing is no problem at all.
If the children of Israel recounted what the Lord had done, I don’t think they would have complained at all.
Now, the key is this
“ALWAYS LOOK BACK AT WHAT GOD DID, & YOU WILL KNOW HE IS ABLE TO DO MUCH MORE”
